D.Namjilmaa to receive “Golden Star” award

Dr.D.Zagdsuren , Mongolia NOC President , has welcomed representatives of   Mongolian Athletics Federation on  the occasion of its 50th anniversary at Olympic House.

Two-time Olympian D.Namjilmaa has been awarded by “Olympic Golden Star” Order, highest distinction of Mongolia NOC  for her great contribution to the development of athletics in the country.

D.Namjilmaa, former shot put athlete, took 8th place in Olympic games and multi champion of Mongolia. She is the founder and director of the “Mon Altius”, physical education institute.

Also, President of Mongolian NOC Dr. D.Zagdsuren awarded “Golden Ochir” order to Ch.Zorigtbaatar, General Secretary of Mongolian Athletics Federation and L.Bold, President of Mongolian Athletics Federation.

IOC announces composition of Evaluation Commission for 2018 Winter Games

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced today that Swedish IOC member Gunilla Lindberg will chair an 11-member Evaluation Commission tasked with making a comprehensive technical appraisal of the three Candidate Cities bidding to host the 2018 Olympic Winter Games: Munich (Germany), Annecy (France) and PyeongChang (South Korea).*

The Evaluation Commission is composed of representatives of the Olympic Movement as well as a number of advisors.

Lindberg, a member of the IOC Executive Board from 2000 to 2004 and IOC Vice-President from 2004 to 2008, is vastly experienced from her time spent on Coordination Commissions for five Olympic Games and her work with the Evaluation Commission for the 2006 Turin Olympic Winter Games.

The 2018 Evaluation Commission will analyse the candidature files before making on-site inspections of the cities between 8 February and 5 March 2011. The Commission will issue its report for IOC members ahead of the election of the host city on 6 July 2011, during the 122nd IOC Session in Durban, South Africa.

“The Evaluation Commission will be well-served by the appointment of Gunilla Lindberg as its Chair,” said IOC President Jacques Rogge. “Ms Lindberg has extensive knowledge of what it takes to host an Olympic Games, in particular a Winter Games, and possesses all the skills necessary to lead our team of experts and make the best possible analyses of the three Candidate Cities.”

Commenting on her appointment, Lindberg said: “It is a great honour for me to have been chosen to head such an important commission within the IOC. I very much look forward to working with my highly qualified colleagues in evaluating the bids from three excellent Candidate Cities.”

Representatives from Munich, Annecy and PyeongChang will give presentations to all IOC members during a technical meeting scheduled for next May in Lausanne. The Evaluation Commission’s report will coincide with this meeting.

Focus on females for Mongolia NOC

Women and Sport Commission of Mongolian National Olympic Committee

The Women and Sport Commission of the Mongolian National Olympic Committee organised a three-day training programme with the theme of “Education to Women” on August 23-25. A total of 25 female administrators, teachers, coaches and athletes from different sports federations, schools and colleges took part.

The various topics given to participants such as “Sport management”, “Athletes career”, “Organisational development” and “Human resource” combined with case studies proved to be a new experience to the representatives. The programme was supported by Olympic Solidarity.
